The British Army has suspended the operation of about 6,000 MAN SV trucks due to technical problems.
This is reported by Joint Forces News.
The truck fleet, which is the backbone of the British army, was shut down after defects in the driveline were discovered that could cause a sudden loss of control and pose a threat to crews.
The military command called it a “necessary precautionary measure,” but the scale of the problem was unprecedented.
MAN SVs are the main logistics vehicles of the British Army: they transport ammunition, fuel, engineering equipment and provide daily support to units.
Their simultaneous decommissioning would effectively paralyze the supply system. According to the British media, some exercises have already been postponed, and some units report delays in supply.
It is worth noting that this problem has arisen as a result of incompetent support for the vehicle repair and maintenance program. Recently, the British army has repeatedly failed a number of defense programs aimed at maintaining its existing fleet.
Similarly, the UK’s Ajax armored vehicle program has recently found itself at the center of a high-profile scandal after the army suspended its use of the vehicles due to new complaints from the military about loud noise and harmful vibration.
