The UK and France will work together to create a peace plan for Ukraine.

Following the scandal in the Oval Office between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump and his administration, the UK and France have agreed to start developing their own plan.

According to the media, the European plan was initiated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who started negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron to elaborate on its development.

Their negotiations and the plan’s development will be in parallel with the American negotiations, which are currently being conducted jointly with Russia, as the United States no longer trusts the Ukrainian government and people.

Starmer emphasized that the United Kingdom and France, possibly with the participation of other states, will collaborate with Ukraine on a plan to end the fighting, which will then be discussed with the United States. He also noted that this approach is faster and more flexible, involving a coalition of interested states.

In addition, the United Kingdom and France are considering creating a “support force” of up to 30,000 troops to protect Ukrainian cities, ports, and key infrastructure from potential Russian attacks if a peace agreement is reached.

This force will focus on air and sea defense with minimal ground deployment in eastern Ukraine, ensuring the safe resumption of airspace and maritime trade in the Black Sea.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer does not believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin will adhere to the terms of any peace agreement, so it is always necessary to have a backup option to create both economic and military pressure on Russia to deter it.

Meanwhile, he noted that he trusts both Zelensky and Trump despite the latter wavering in his support for Ukraine.

Militarnyi previously reported that the UK is ready to send its troops and combat aircraft to Ukraine for a peacekeeping mission.

The mission could be similar to the one currently being conducted in the Baltic States, which involves providing escorts for Russian aviation and responding round-the-clock to air threats.
