A Bradley IFV operated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces withstood an anti-tank mine explosion without injuries to the crew or dismounted troops.
The crew shared details of the incident with the Army TV channel.
The combat vehicle, actively used by the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade, struck the mine during a mission.
The explosion caused significant damage to the suspension, tore off the road wheels, and broke the track.
Despite the blast, no injuries were reported among the crew or the infantry unit inside.
“They’ve hit anti-tank mines before — not just one,” Anton, the Bradley’s commander, shared. “No one was hurt. The shoes came off, the road wheels flew, but everyone was alive — crew and troops. They got out on their own.”
The commander also noted that due to helmet-mounted radios, the blast did not cause even minor concussions among the crew.
The Bradleys supplied to Ukraine are M2A2 ODS-SA versions, equipped with additional steel armor and BRAT explosive reactive armor (ERA) blocks.
The added protection shields the crew from 30 mm rounds in the frontal arc and anti-tank grenade launchers targeting the sides, front, and portions of the turret where the reactive armor is mounted.
Ukraine currently operates around 300 Bradley IFVs, making it the most numerous Western-designed infantry fighting vehicle in service with the Ukrainian military and one of the most common overall.
As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have gained experience in maintaining and repairing the platform. In 2024, 60 vehicles were restored to operational condition over 12 months, primarily involving units that had become nonfunctional due to significant damage.
Repairs are categorized into four levels. Ukrainian specialists can handle the first three levels domestically. Vehicles with level-four damage are sent to the original manufacturer or European facilities capable of conducting advanced repairs.
