The Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina blocked the landing of a military aircraft carrying Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
The Bosnian outlet n1info.ba reported on this.
Defence Minister Zukan Helez announced the decision himself in a post on Facebook.
The politician explained his decision by saying that Hungary had not provided an adequate justification for the head of its foreign ministry’s arrival on a military aircraft.
“I refused to grant permission for the Hungarian military plane to land at Banja Luka Airport, on which Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was supposed to arrive,” Helez stated.
He also emphasized that for many years, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Minister Szijjártó have openly supported the former president of the administrative entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Republika Srpska), Milorad Dodik, in actions that undermine the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity.
According to media reports, Szijjártó, who was in Belgrade on Wednesday for talks, was scheduled to arrive in Banja Luka on Thursday to receive an honorary doctorate from the local university.
