Ukrainian border guards are not observing any accumulation of military forces and equipment convoys on the border of the unrecognized “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”.

This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, State Border Guard Service Spokesman in his comment to Ukrinform.

The SBGS also believes that provocations in the region are being set up to escalate the situation.

“Explosions and provocations in Transnistria are all part of the Kremlin’s game. It uses these areas to destabilize the situation or try to use its territory in the war against Ukraine. At the moment, we are not recording any accumulation of forces or formation of convoys along the borderline, which would be ready to be moved into Ukraine,” Demchenko stressed.

He also pointed out that the checkpoints at the border with Transnistria have been closed since the end of February. In addition, the border area with the occupied part of Moldova was strengthened both by the State Border Guard Service and by other defense forces.

The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine believes that the Kremlin is deliberately escalating the situation in the region.

The goal of the invaders is to put pressure on Ukraine and find ways to disperse the Ukrainian army during the attack on Donbas and the south of Ukraine.

The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine emphasizes that the invaders’ forces and means in the region are low.

“According to the experts, the number of really capable and motivated personnel of the unit of the Task Force of Russian troops in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova does not exceed 300 people, whose task is to protect ammunition depots in the village of Kolbasna,” the statement said.

It is also noted that more than half of the ammunition from the warehouses in Kolbasna has already expired. This regards approximately 7 to 8 thousand tons of suitable arsenal. According to various sources, up to 22,000 tons of ammunition are stored in the depot.

The quality of equipment in Transnistria is also questionable.

“About two-thirds of all military equipment in Transnistria is completely or partially not combat-capable, and there are no material means and production capacity to repair and restore it,” said the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Therefore, the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine states that the Transnistrian region could be used by the enemy as a bridgehead to establish the supply of Russian troops on the territory of Moldova. At the moment, this is impossible, as the invaders do not have a ground corridor through the southern regions of Ukraine.

Previously, it was reported that the EU will be providing military assistance to Moldova.
