The 18th Slovyansk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine has taken delivery of Ukrainian-made 155mm Bohdana wheeled self-propelled howitzers.
The press service of the military unit reported this development and shared a photo showcasing the artillery in action.
This advanced artillery system plays a crucial role in targeting and eliminating Russian invaders in the east.
“The command “Fire!” is given, and a powerful wave rolls through the forest, throwing snow from branches and camouflage nets. And tens of kilometers away, a relentless force is flying, turning the enemy’s manpower into numbers in the morning statistics,” the brigade wrote on its Facebook page.
The artillerymen of the 18th Slovyansk Brigade report that this is how the 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled howitzer works: fast, efficient, and effective.
The statement emphasized, ‘Modern Ukrainian weapons, operated by skilled Ukrainian forces, form a powerful combination against which the enemy stands no chance!’
It is reported that the 18th Slovyansk Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine is stationed in Sloviansk, Donetsk region. It is a part of the Eastern Operational and Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Ukrainian 155mm Bohdana wheeled howitzers are becoming an integral part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ arsenal. Notably, the 26th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been strengthened with these advanced self-propelled howitzers.
In early 2025, it was announced that the artillery division of the Liut Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine had also been equipped with Bohdana howitzers.
The latest versions of 2S22 Bohdana 155mm wheeled howitzers come with a shell loader. The chassis used for them is a Ukrainian-made Tatra Phoenix 8×8 or Tatra T815 truck with a Czech Puma L2 Long armored cabin.
Last October, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian defense companies had achieved a monthly production rate of 20 howitzers. Additionally, Ukraine presented a trailer-mounted howitzer based on the artillery system of the Bohdana self-propelled howitzer. Work on this innovative system was first revealed in November 2023.
Artillerymen from the 48th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, among the first to receive the Ukrainian-made self-propelled howitzers, shared their insights on how the Bohdana howitzer performs and how it compares to other equipment in their arsenal.
