The external pilots of the FPV drones from the 414th Birds of Magyar Unmanned Strike Aviation Brigade revealed behind-the-scenes footage of their work while hunting enemy equipment, including the Grad MRL.
The brigade commander shared the exclusive footage on his Telegram channel.
In particular, the video captured the destruction of two enemy BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers and a tank by one of the crews in a single shift.
One of the Grad multiple rocket launchers and a tank were hit right in the hangars using fiber-optic drones.
A regular FPV drone hit the second MRL at a camouflaged position in a forest strip. The vehicle was loaded with ammunition, and its detonation caused an immediate catastrophic explosion.
Additionally, the drone operators shared details about a new ‘duplet’ tactic. With the increased number of drones and pilots, it became possible to launch two FPV drones on a single mission simultaneously, significantly expanding tactical capabilities.
In particular, a new tactic for targeting Russian shelters was demonstrated. One drone directly hits the shelter, while the second one immediately lands near its exit in a “mined” mode. As a result, if the enemy tries to exit the damaged shelter, the second drone detonates.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian government is set to significantly increase its procurement of strike drones, with plans to acquire 4.5 million FPV drones in 2025.
“The Ukrainian defense industry’s capacity in 2025 is expected to reach around 4.5 million FPV drones, and the Ministry of Defence intends to purchase all of them,” Hlib Kanievskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department at Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, stated.
To achieve this, the Ministry of Defence will allocate over UAH 110 billion for drone purchases, with more than UAH 102 billion to be channeled through the Defense Procurement Agency.
According to Kanievskyi, all procurement plans for 2025 have been allocated budget funds. This will allow for the rapid supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to the frontlines.
The announced contracting plans for UAH 102 billion symbolize significant adjustments to the defense budget, as back in December, Kanievskyi announced plans to finance FPV drone purchases for only UAH 44 billion.
