German PzH 2000 155-mm self-propelled howitzers have already arrived at the frontline.
BILD published photos and videos from the combat zone featuring the advanced artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Journalists reported that the Ukrainian servicemen are taking maximum measures to hide the location of valuable weapons from the Russians. The howitzer from the footage is disguised as vegetation, and no one around it is allowed to use mobile communication.
The publication quoted Ruslan, one of the ACS operators, saying they spent 36 days mastering PzH 2000, although they initially planned to study the weapon in 10 days. The Ukrainian servicemen assessed the howitzer as follows:
“We are very grateful to the Chancellor of Germany and the German people for these ACS. This is a perfect weapon, one such howitzer is worth three Soviet ones we used to have. The Russians still have an advantage in artillery. But we hope to be able to change that with new arms supplies. We need more!”
In total, Ukraine already has twelve PzH 2000 received from Germany and the Netherlands. Germany plans to supply another six.
Panzerhaubitze 2000 is a German self-propelled artillery howitzer with an automatic loading system and a high automation level of all systems. It is developed on the basis of the Leopard-2 tank.
It uses NATO-standard separate-loading rounds. The gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers and is equipped with a charging chamber. The vehicle carries 60 artillery shells and 228 propellants on board. The firing range with standard ammunition is 30 km.
