U.S. President Joe Biden will chair the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in the Ramstein format.
The meeting will take place on October 12 in Germany.
This was announced on the White House website after Biden’s meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“On October 12, 2024, President Biden will host a leader-level meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Germany, where two leaders will review progress on these consultations and coordinate with international partners on additional assistance for Ukraine,” the statement reads.
It is noted that President Biden was “determined to provide Ukraine with the support needed for the victory of Ukraine.”
During a meeting in Washington on Thursday, September 26, Biden announced his decision to increase U.S. defense aid to Ukraine, and Zelensky presented his plan to achieve victory over Russia.
Two leaders discussed diplomatic, economic, and military aspects of President Zelenskyi’s plan and tasked their teams to engage in “intensive consultations” regarding next steps.
Before his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of nearly $8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
In particular, part of these funds will be used to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and support the defense industry.
As part of this aid package, the US President directed the Department of Defense to provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defense battery and missiles for these SAMs in order to help Ukraine protect its cities and its citizens.
As previously reported, the United States approved the transfer of Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) bombs capable of hitting targets at a distance of 130 kilometers.
In addition, the United States will expand training for Ukrainian F-16 pilots increasing the number of trained pilots.
