Belgium continues to transfer SUVs and trucks from the country’s armed forces to Ukraine.
This was reported by the SOF publication.
The country plans to provide Ukraine with about 320 Volvo trucks and 80 Lynx (Iveco LML) armored vehicles by the end of the year.
The vehicles are handed over after they undergo repair. The first batch of vehicles came from the Belgian Land Component.
The government has also announced an additional batch of 90 Volvo N10 trucks that will be shipped in the near future. So far, the country has delivered about 150 trucks of this type in five batches.
The transfer of vehicles to Ukraine is related to the upgrading of the Belgian Army’s armored vehicle fleet with modern Falcon vehicles and DAF Buffalo trucks.
In total, Belgium has ordered about 879 Buffalo trucks, as well as 322 JLTV Falcon APCs, the first batch of which in the amount of eight units arrived this summer.
“The purchase and/or supply of military equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces is and remains a priority,” said Ludivine Dedonder, Minister of Defense of Belgium.
In addition, the Minister said that the country planned to supply air defense systems to Ukraine.
“New deliveries are planned, in particular in the field of air defense, ammunition and training,” Dedonder added.
As Militarnyi previously reported, the first infantry fighting vehicle YPR-765 in the PRI variant produced by the Dutch company DAF and transferred from a private collector was spotted in Ukraine.
The PRI (Pantser Rups Infanterie) armored vehicles are equipped with an EWS turret with a Swiss Oerlikon KBA B02 25mm gun capable of fighting lightly armored targets and infantry. The vehicle is designated as AIFV-B-C25 in the Belgian Army.
