Belgium is to provide € 8 million of non-lethal aid to the Ukrainian armed forces, and Italy allocates € 2 million for humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

At the request of Foreign Minister Aji Lahbib, the Federal Council of Ministers decided that Belgium would provide non-lethal aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Belgium will make a voluntary contribution to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) Trust Fund, which provides non-lethal aid to Ukraine.

Cargo includes first aid supplies, winter clothing and, if necessary, other equipment, including night vision devices and medical supplies.

This assistance is the result of the decision of the heads of state and government of NATO member countries at the summit in Madrid in June.

The NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) Trust Fund is aimed at strengthening support for Ukraine as a partner country and prospective member. It was created to in 2016 after the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea by the Russian Federation

Italy will assist Ukraine in demining the territories liberated from the Russian invaders.

This was stated by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio during his visit to Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported.

Di Maio announced the allocation of € 2 million for humanitarian demining in the liberated territories.

The minister clarified that Italy would be able to hand over part of the demining equipment to Ukrainian rescuers in the near future.

As previously reported, the United Kingdom redeemed Belgian M109 self-propelled howitzers from a private arms company for Ukraine.

At the end of July, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov thanked his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini for the new military aid package. The exact content of the new military aid package is yet to be announced.
