Lukashenko has ordered a new military command of the Belarusian armed forces for south of Belarus.

Lukashenko explained the reasons for this decision by the alleged threat from Ukraine.

According to him, in addition to the fronts with Lithuania and Poland, a new direction has opened – the south.

“The defense minister suggested opening a new operational command on the southern flank, in the southern direction of our country. It was back last year… But now it is necessary to create this operational direction immediately, along with the western, northwestern there will be the southern wing,” Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko noted that now it is necessary to send new units to the southern border, without waiting for the set up of a new operational command, so that Belarusian troops can get experience.

As previously reported, before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, tens of thousands of Russian servicemen were concentrated in Belarus, some took part in the war on Ukrainian territory, as well as carrying out missile and air strikes.

Belarus has officially denied its involvement in the war against Ukraine, but Alexander Lukashenko has admitted that he allowed Russia to use its military infrastructure to strike at Ukraine.

In early May, it was identified that at least 631 missiles had been launched from the territory of the Republic of Belarus at the territory of Ukraine.

On April 29, the leader of the united Belarusian opposition, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, called on the United States to impose the same harsh sanctions on the Lukashenko regime as it did on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

Also, the Prime Minister of Belarus recently said that the country is actively cooperating with the Russian Federation in the defense industry and is actively selling weapons to it.

Golovchenko said that the military-industrial complex of Belarus is in demand not only inside the country, but also for the needs of the Russian Federation.
