Belarus will not be able to transfer Polonez multiple launch rocket systems to Russia without China’s consent.
Columnist Nikola Mikovic wrote about this in the South China Morning Post.
Since the Polonez multiple launch rocket system uses Chinese-made missiles, its potential transfer from Belarus to Russia would require China’s consent.
As the author writes, Beijing and Minsk are trying not to cross the West’s red lines in military cooperation both with each other and with Russia. That is why their ties in the foreseeable future will remain mainly in the economic sphere.
Militarnyi reported on July 6 that the military of the People’s Republic of China had arrived in the Republic of Belarus on a military transport plane.
The arrival of the Chinese military in Belarus came just days after the country officially joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The organization does not hide the fact that one of the goals of the SCO is, among other things, military cooperation between member states.
As previously reported, Belarus is transferring military equipment from Belarusian units to the Russian military to urgently meet the needs of Russian troops.
This is not the first time that self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has transferred equipment and ammunition to Russia. It is known that in 2022, Belarus transferred ammunition and mothballed equipment from stockpiles.
It is possible that the Russian troops’ need for long-range weapons forces Belarus to discuss the transfer of the Polonez multiple launch rocket systems.
This multiple rocket launcher was first presented in 2015 in Minsk during a military parade.
The Polonez 301mm multiple rocket launcher is an adapted Belarusian MZKT-7930 Astrolog transporter-erector-launcher for the Chinese GATSS multi-purpose missile system. The Belarusian system uses Chinese A200 and A300 guided missiles with a range of up to 200 km and 300 km.
