Belarusian military is conducting tests of an upgraded version of a T-72B main battle tank at one of the country’s military training grounds.
As reported by the State Military-Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the R&D services were ordered by the armored department of the Ministry of Defense and provided were carried out by the ‘140 repair plant’ — a joint stock company located in the Borysov town in Belarus.
As a result of all these efforts, a test model of a combat vehicle was produced.
Appropriate engineering design documentation was also prepared.
Currently, the capabilities of the improved tank, its combat, technical and operational indicators are being evaluated.
It is noted that the issue of modernization of armored vehicles is one of the priorities in the activities of the State Military Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
In the released video materials, it can be seen that the tank received a new built-in dynamic protection of the turret, front part of the hull and sides.
Such armor should protect not only from anti-tank guided missiles and rocket munitions of manual and rack-mounted grenade launchers, but also from sub-caliber projectiles of tank guns.
The stern was covered with anti-accumulative gratings.
It looks similar to Russian modification of the T-80BVM tank.
However, it is not entirely clear whether an engine of some power is installed on it.
At the same time, the gunner-operator received a Sosna-U sight, and the old device was left as a backup.
