Belarusian engineers have developed a new drone defense system called ‘Antidrone’, combining quadcopter interceptors with a close-range buckshot module.
The Belarusian Radiosignal website reported that the system had been equipped with a Prashcha-100L (Slingshot-100L) protection unit, designed to target drones within 100 meters using six directional buckshot charges.
The system is aimed at intercepting FPV drones at close range, particularly as they approach critical targets.
Target acquisition is handled by a passive optoelectronic tracking system that does not emit signals, helping to conceal the systems’s location.
This feature is especially important in frontline environments, where radar use can expose positions.
The interceptor drones themselves are quadcopters with a large central dome, where a warhead is likely housed.
The guidance system is presumed to use a low-cost homing mechanism.
Ukraine has also developed similar counter-drone systems. In June, the Ukrainian group Wild Hornets produced a large batch of interceptor drones designed to engage Russian Shahed-type loitering munitions.
