Belarus announced a sudden inspection of tactical nuclear weapons carriers with Iskander systems.

Alexander Lukashenko ordered the inspection.

“A division of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system and a squadron of Su-25 aircraft are being engaged to perform the tasks,” Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.

He added that it is planned to check the whole range of measures from planning, preparation, and use of strikes with tactical nuclear weapons.

Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Army, said that during the inspection, parts of the aviation forces and means were relocated to the reserve airfield.

After the relocation of the technical staff, they plan to start preparing for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons.

According to Alexander Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council, it is also planned to practice the delivery of nuclear munitions to delivery vehicles.

He explained the decision to inspect “the military-political situation, primarily around Belarus.”

He explained that this inspection “was planned amid measures taken by our colleagues from the Russian Federation on the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons and synchronized with them.”

Before that, on May 6, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that, on behalf of Vladimir Putin, it started preparations for exercises to “improve the readiness of non-strategic nuclear forces to perform combat missions.”

During the exercise, it is planned to practice “preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons” to “unconditionally ensure territorial integrity” and “in response to provocative statements and threats by certain Western officials” against Russia.

In late August, Militarnyi reported that Belarus received nuclear warheads from Russia. Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence, officially confirmed this information. The new Belarusian military doctrine will also include the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
