A ceremony was held in Kuwait to commission the first batch of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 combat drones.
The Kuwait Times reported on this.
The ceremony for accepting the drones into service took place at the Salem Al-Sabah base, with the participation of officials from the Kuwaiti Armed Forces.
The contract, valued at approximately $367 million with the Turkish company Baykar to supply Bayraktar TB2, was signed in June 2023.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kuwait will receive 18 drones, three ground control stations, training equipment, Roketsan MAM-L ammunition, and technical support for three years.
During the presentation, the manufacturer demonstrated the technical capabilities of the platform, including reconnaissance, weapons guidance, and a flight duration of up to 27 hours, as well as its effectiveness in desert conditions, particularly during sandstorms.
In addition to combat functions, special attention was paid to the training of local personnel. The first group of operators completed training in Turkey in July 2024, the second in February 2025.
Thus, Kuwait became the 28th country to decide on using Bayraktar TB2 drones in its armed forces.
