Serbia and Kosovo put their armies on high alert.
The media of the region reported this.
Serbian Defense Minister Miloš Vučević stated that the Serbian military was put on high alert on Monday, December 26.
“The President, as the Commander-in-Chief, ordered tonight (December 26 – ed.) that the Armed Forces of Serbia be at the highest level of combat readiness, i.e. readiness to the level of use,” the official said.
He noted that the Serbian armed forces must be ready to protect citizens and “prevent terrorism and terror against Serbs wherever they live.”
According to Vučić, the reason for such a decision is the alleged preparation of the Kosovo authorities to attack the Serb barricades in the north of Kosovo.
In turn, Kosovo has also put its security forces on maximum alert.
On Monday, peacekeepers claimed that they were investigating a shooting incident in the northern region of Kosovo, calling for peace.
The incident on Sunday evening occurred in the town of Zubin Potok, where the local Serbs have been barricading roads for the past two weeks and where tensions are high.
The international peacekeeping force in Kosovo reported a shooting by unknown persons near one of their patrols. According to their data, no one was injured.
On the evening of December 26, it was reported that Serbia is withdrawing artillery to the border with Kosovo.
Eyewitnesses reported six NORA B-52 self-propelled howitzers of the Serbian army and a certain number of military police units being placed near the settlement of Rudnica, which is two kilometers away from the village of Jarinje in Kosovo.
