The 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine has received a supply of domestic Novator-2 armored vehicles.

The brigade’s press service published a review of the armored vehicle.

However, it is important to mention that there has been no official information regarding the availability of these armored vehicles in Azov. According to Militarnyi, the National Guard received a batch of these vehicles in early August 2024.

“Takes to the assault, covers with Browning, and quickly evacuates from the battle. The newest Ukrainian armored vehicle of the second generation, Novator-2, has incorporated the best solutions for fast and safe movement to the battlefield,” the Brigade wrote.

It is reported that Novator-2 has been participating in the most difficult tasks performed by Azov soldiers for a long time and has been saving their lives by taking them out of the range of artillery fire and FPV drone strikes.

The Azov soldiers reported that during a combat mission, an onboard electronic jamming station redirected an enemy drone, and the armored hull withstood a nearby explosion, allowing the vehicle to continue moving.

Novator-2

The modification, which is based on the Ford F-550 chassis, was developed based on the experience of using the first Novator in combat conditions.

The main innovations in the armored vehicle include an improved suspension and steering system that provide high maneuverability and increased cross-country ability.

The vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter, 8-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower, and is equipped with an automatic transmission. It is also equipped with Run-flat technology, which helps to drive with damaged wheels.

The vehicle has become 10 centimeters longer, which made it possible to install an armored section for additional seats. Previously, Novator could carry five passengers, now there are ten seats.

The vehicle’s curb weight has increased by 2 tons, reaching 9,660 kg, while the payload capacity has risen to 3,340 kilograms.

Additional 5-centimeter-thick armored windows and an extra roof hatch have been added. The new Novator-2 maintains the capability to install a remote-controlled combat module equipped with a machine gun.

It is known that the armored body of the vehicle is made of Armox steel.
