The Azov Assault Brigade demonstrated how the Brigade’s soldiers were evacuating civilians from the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works shelters in Mariupol in early May 2022.

The video was released today on the second anniversary of the completion of the defense of Mariupol on the Azov Brigade’s official YouTube channel.
This footage captures how the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal Iron and Steel Works actually took place and what role international organizations played in the process.
Between mid-March and May 2022, soldiers of the Azov Brigade evacuated about 1,200 local residents from under fire in Mariupol.
“Russian shelling, which completely destroyed Mariupol, forced the elderly, women, and children to seek shelter in the plant’s dungeons,” the press service reported.
The evacuation of civilians from the siege was ensured by Ukraine with the participation of soldiers and commanders of the Azov Assault Brigade.
At the beginning of May 2022, more than 1,000 civilians were in the Azovstal plant’s shelters.
“You will see through the eyes of soldiers of the Azov Brigade the organization and process of the evacuation of civilians from the besieged plant. Some footage is published for the first time,” the press service wrote.

During the attempts to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, four Ukrainian defenders were killed and twelve others were injured.
On May 16-20, 2022, the city’s defenders came out of hiding at the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works in Mariupol.
