U.S. President Donald Trump, during a recent phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, pledged to immediately transfer 10 interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

The report comes from Axios, citing sources familiar with the conversation.

Although the number of interceptors is smaller than what was initially planned before the temporary suspension of U.S. arms deliveries in early July, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense.

According to the sources, Trump told Zelensky that he wants to help strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities but emphasized that the recent shipment was paused to review U.S. stockpiles. He also promised to assist in identifying additional channels to supply weapons to Ukrainian forces.

The call between the two leaders took place last Friday.

According to U.S. media reports, the original list of weapons scheduled for delivery to Ukraine included 30 Patriot missiles.

Axios noted that prior to this, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called Trump to request that the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine be unblocked. Merz also informed Trump that Germany was willing to purchase Patriot batteries from the U.S. and send them to Ukraine.

In response, Trump suggested that Germany could instead provide one of its own Patriot batteries to Ukraine, with the U.S. and European allies sharing the costs.

While Trump and Merz did not reach an agreement on the matter, officials stated that discussions between the parties are ongoing.

Speaking to reporters on Monday evening, Trump confirmed that more military aid would be sent to Ukraine, though he did not disclose specific details.

Shortly afterward, the Pentagon officially announced that, at the president’s direction, additional defensive weapons would be provided to Ukraine, without specifying what types of equipment would be included.

According to Politico, the United States has already informed Kyiv that deliveries of engineering equipment and certain armored vehicles will resume in the near future. However, exact timelines have not yet been determined. Ukraine and the U.S. are also expected to hold talks on military assistance in the coming days.
