Aviastar Aircraft Plant Attacked in Ulyanovsk

Drones attacked the Aviastar aircraft manufacturing plant in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk.

The Exilenova+ Telegram monitoring channel reported on this.

On the night of March 16, Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexey Russkikh said that at least five drones had been detected over the region.

Later, the local Telegram group Trash Ulyanovsk reported that after repelling the drone attack, the Aviastar plant temporarily suspended operations.

Aviastar is a strategic aircraft manufacturing plant that produces and repairs large transport and passenger aircraft and is an important part of Russia’s aviation industry.

The enterprise specializes in the production of Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft, Il-78M-90A aerial refueling tankers, and also provides maintenance for Antonov An-124 Ruslan heavy transport aircraft.

Previously, drones had not struck this facility. However, in 2024, special drills were held on its premises to practice responding to the aftermath of a simulated drone attack.
