Ukrainian company Atmaraksi will develop a VR simulator of the ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun for military training.

The company’s CEO, Anton Ponomarenko, told the publication Militarnyi that the simulators were ordered by the Desna training center.

Atmaraksi specializes in developing software for virtual environments and manufacturing electronic equipment.

In creating the simulator, the company is implementing:

  • a motion tracking and positioning system
  • the design of realistic physical models of weapons
  • the integration of complex virtual reality systems

In Ukraine, ZU-23 installations are actively used to destroy Russian drones.

Atmaraksi has previously developed simulators for training Ukrainian military personnel, including grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns.

According to the manufacturer, the use of VR simulators saves hundreds of thousands of dollars in military training costs.

Earlier, Ukraine developed a VR training simulator for shooting with a hunting rifle, designed to train fighters to counter FPV drones.

Simulators before the full-scale invasion

In 2021, the Desna training center already implemented ZU-23-2 simulators.

The complex was a computer-mechanical training tool.

It included electronic equipment in the form of a controller with sensors, two sight simulators installed on an anti-aircraft mount, a binocular simulator, a spherical projection screen, and computer equipment.

Shooting was carried out with 23-millimeter simulation cartridges.
