The Russian military received a new batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles in late October.
At the Kurganmashzavod JSC defense enterprise of the Russian Federation announced that it was increasing production volumes.
“The enterprise is shipping the required number of products every month,” they noted.
The holding’s representatives added that the new BMP-3 is adapted to operate in low temperatures, which is important considering the approaching winter.
“The vehicles start easily in any weather, including temperatures down to minus 40 degrees,” Kurganmashzavod noted.
Each vehicle is equipped with a set of additional protection, consisting of add-on armored screens and slat armor.
The company also demonstrated the process of creating BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles used in the war against Ukraine.
Kurganmashzavod is the only manufacturer of these infantry fighting vehicles in Russia.
Armored vehicle hulls are being built in the welding technology shop. Welders are connecting parts of the future BMP-3: the bottom, side plates, roof, and other elements.
After that, the finished case is sent to assembly.
The weight of the BMP-3 exceeds 18 tons. The armament includes a 100-mm 2A70 cannon, a 30-mm automatic gun, a 7.62-mm machine gun, a fire control system, a semi-automatic loading mechanism, a sight, including a night vision function, and a weapon stabilizer. The BMP-3 is equipped with water jets, which are used to force water obstacles.
After the start of a large-scale Russian invasion, dozens of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles became trophies of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
