The European company ARX Robotics has presented its first combat unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), the Combat Gereon, developed in collaboration with Ukrainian DefenseTech company Frontline.
The company’s press service reported on this.
The vehicle was designed based on the ‘first unmanned contact’ concept. It performs the most dangerous tasks in place of soldiers and reduces risks for troops in combat zones.
The Combat Gereon combines the proven Gereon RCS platform with AI-based autonomous capabilities and the BURIA grenade launcher turret.
The project was implemented as part of a European-Ukrainian program in cooperation with the Frontline company and based on recommendations from Ukrainian military personnel. As a result, the platform takes into account real front-line conditions and combat usage.
The primary mission of the Combat Gereon is to operate in high-risk areas: conducting reconnaissance, clearing routes, and performing advanced surveillance. This enables soldiers to avoid direct contact with the enemy and preserve lives.
The official presentation of the unmanned ground vehicle will take place at the international defense exhibition DSEI UK 2025 in London. There, it will be showcased alongside the remotely operated weapon station LOKI by Valhalla Turrets.
The unmanned ground vehicle is capable of carrying various payloads and combat loads weighing up to 500 kilograms over a distance of up to 40 kilometers.
Separately, ARX, in cooperation with Valhalla, has adapted the system to European certification standards and integrated modern weaponry.
“The Combat Gereon is the next step in our mission to protect soldiers and enhance Europe’s defense resilience,” said Marc Wietfeld, co-founder and CEO of ARX Robotics.
Among the main advantages of the system are its modularity and the capability for mass production both in Europe and in Ukraine. This makes the platform flexible in use and supports defense cooperation between the countries.
It is worth noting that the transfer of a UGV of this type to Ukraine was announced back in November 2024. According to the CEO of ARX Robotics, the delivery was planned to be completed by the end of that same year.
At that time, the German government funded the purchase of 30 such drones. Meanwhile, the company announced that it would establish its own technology and maintenance center in Ukraine.
