Ukrainian artillery has recently hit at least two Russian Pion 203mm self-propelled cannons in the Zaporizhzhia region.

To destroy the enemy’s cannons, the Defense Forces of Ukraine used high-precision ammunition.

Self-propelled 203mm cannon of the Russian invaders were detected by Ukrainian reconnaissance drones.

The 3rd Operational Brigade Spartan of the National Guard of Ukraine published a video of the destruction of the Russian Pion self-propelled cannon.

The military reported that on October 3, around 11:00 a.m., the brigade’s aerial reconnaissance unit located a Russian 2S7 Pion self-propelled cannon.

As a result of the carried out adjustments and targeting, the artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the target.

A high-precision rocket from the HIMARS launcher was used for fire damage.

According to the footage, the strike destroyed a Russian self-propelled cannon. According to the observers who monitor the course of hostilities between Ukraine and Russia, the Russian cannon was destroyed near the village of Pokrovske near Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Also, the video of the destruction of the Russian Pion self-propelled 203mm cannon on Monday, October 9, was published by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The operators of one of the SOF units aimed Ukrainian artillery at the enemy artillery and adjusted their fire.

Observers found out that the Russian self-propelled cannon was hit near the village of Chervonohirka, north of Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the video footage, an adjusted ammunition was used for the strike.

2S7 Pion self-propelled cannon

The 2S7 Pion is a Soviet 203mm self-propelled gun, designed to destroy especially important objects and enemy fortifications. Its main weapon is the 2А44 203mm gun, which has a maximum firing rate of 1.5 shots per minute (up to 2.5 shots per minute with the upgraded version). The weight of one projectile for a 2S7 Pion high-power gun is 110 kg. The firing range with a rocket-assisted projectile is up to 46 km, and for the conventional – up to 37.5 km.
