Defense Forces of Ukraine defeated a significant force of the Russian military in the Avdiivka direction.
A Ukrainian serviceman known online as “Kriegsforscher” described the battles in this direction.
The Russian military command has recently formed armored groups comprised of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
“On February 6 and 7, the 1st Motorized Brigade of the 1st Army Corps launched another attack on our positions with numerous armored vehicles,” the Ukrainian serviceman said.
According to him, the invaders commenced offensive operations on January 15, 2023, and were partially successful.
“But they lost a lot of manpower and armor in that attack. In total, from January 15 to February 10, they lost 30 infantry fighting vehicles and 7 tanks,” the soldier said.
Just on February 6-7, they lost 2 tanks, 8 infantry fighting vehicles and manpower. On February 9, they also lost 2 tanks and 1 MT-LB armored personnel carrier and 18 soldiers in one place.
“You can’t even imagine, even I [can’t], the number of destroyed Russian armored vehicles from Krasnohorivka to Kamianka. Approximately like 3 brigades,” the Ukrainian military said.
Russian armored vehicles suffer substantial casualties as a result of fire and explosives placed on assault routes by the Ukrainians. It is known that these positions, in particular, are defended by Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynsky.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Russia continues to focus its main offensive efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka directions.
“During the day, units of the Defense Forces repelled the attacks of the invaders near Avdiivka,” the Ukrainian General Staff said.
As previously reported, in the Vuhledar direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine defeated a large armored group of Russian troops.
