The artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has destroyed the launcher of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system of the Russian invaders.
The enemy’s SAM was spotted and hit on the territory of the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The video of the destruction of the Russian system was published by Yurii Misyagin, Ukrainian volunteer and politician.
According to him, it was the gunners of the 44th Artillery Brigade that targeted Buk TEL with accurate fire.
According to Misyagin, Ukrainian gunners spotted and hit the self-propelled rocket launcher of the latest Russian Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system, although it should be noted that no unambiguous conclusions can be drawn from the video.
A Ukrainian reconnaissance drone spotted a disguised launcher in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Russians arranged their positions among the forest plantation: between the fields and next to the road.
The published video shows that the anti-aircraft missiles that were on the Buk TEL caught fire following the strike. It is likely that Ukrainian gunners used precision ammunition to defeat enemy’s equipment.
Judging from the video, it can be assumed that the launcher at least suffered serious damage or was even completely destroyed due to an artillery strike, as well as subsequent burning and detonation of its missiles.
The Russian Buk-M3 medium-range air defense system is designed to destroy aerodynamic targets, tactical ballistic, cruise or air-launched missiles, and other aerial targets. It was adopted by the army of the aggressor state in 2016.
Specifically for the Buk-M3 SAM, a new 9М317М anti-aircraft missile was developed. This is a single-stage solid missile, made in accordance with the normal aerodynamic scheme. The firing range of the missile is 70km, the target hit altitude is 35km. The intercept range of high-speed air targets was increased to 30 km.
The 9М317М missile, unlike its predecessors, is supplied and stored in a cylindrical sealed transport and launch container (TLC), and is fully ready for combat use. The TLC protects the missile from the influence of the external environment, simplifies the transportation and maintenance of the missile.
