The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 10 billion from the state budget for the needs of the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense.
Ekonomichna Pravda reported on this.
Government Decree No. 1217 of December 6 states that the funds are needed to “strengthen the state’s defense capabilities,” particularly “to purchase defense equipment.”
The Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Finance to make these expenditures on a non-refundable basis at the expense of the state budget reserve fund.
Previously, the Defense Procurement Agency had a budget of UAH 306.7 billion for 2024, of which 92% (UAH 282.9 billion) was already reserved for contracts.
The Agency planned to use another UAH 23.8 billion to fund already prepared contracts to purchase ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
However, they have recently been transferred to the State Border Guard Service for the same purpose – purchasing weapons.
As reported by Militarnyi, in the first 10 months of this year, the Agency signed 16 contracts to purchase unmanned ground vehicles for various purposes.
As part of these agreements, the state ordered several hundred reconnaissance, strike, logistics, and other unmanned systems made in Ukraine.
From January to early November, the Agency signed contracts for supplying electronic warfare (EW) equipment worth over UAH 6 billion for the military.
In September-October alone, several thousand electronic warfare systems were contracted for more than UAH 1 billion. These are mostly portable short-range systems. They can be used to equip vehicles and equipment to protect crews from enemy FPV drones.
In total, more than 11,000 electronic warfare systems, mostly made in Ukraine, have been contracted during this period. Most of them have already been delivered to the Armed Forces.
