U.S. company Griffon Aerospace announced the completion of development of the MQM-172 Arrowhead, a multi-purpose drone similar in concept to Iran’s Shahed systems.
Defense Blog reported the news.
Although the Arrowhead is primarily positioned as a target drone, its design allows it to be quickly adapted into a kamikaze drone.
Such dual functionality reflects growing demand for versatile systems that can be used both for training and combat operations.
The company said the Arrowhead’s modular design supports a wide range of applications. The drone is equipped with a cargo bay capable of carrying up to 45 kg, allowing integration of different sensors or warheads depending on the mission.
The platform has a maneuverable and durable body, which Griffon Aerospace says reflects its overall design philosophy.
The company added that the drone was “developed, tested and manufactured” in-house.
A similar U.S. project, the LUCAS (Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System), has been reported earlier. It aims to provide an affordable and flexible platform for operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
