Germany handed over six more Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns to Ukraine.

The German Ministry of Defense reported that 6000 rounds for them were also transferred.

Thus, there are currently 30 such German installations in the arsenal of the Ukrainian army.

The report also refers to the transfer of 3,000 155-mm shells (1000 signal and 2000 smoke).

The first Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery systems arrived in Ukraine in July of this year.

Over the past month, the military has received about 49 thousand shells for these anti-aircraft installations.

Artillery systems strike targets at a distance of 100 meters up to 4 km. Their crew consists of only three members: driver, commander and gunner.

The German SPAAG has an automated fire system that takes into account atmospheric pressure, air temperature and air humidity, as well as wind speed and direction, which saves time for the gunner.

Important infrastructure will be covered against attacks by helicopters and aircraft at low and ultra-low altitudes.

This anti-aircraft system has been a very important element of the air defense of the armies of Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium for a long time. However, in the 2000s, the militaries of these countries stopped using them. At the same time, this system is still in service in some other states.

The system is based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank.

The system is based on the Leopard 1 tank chassis. Two 35mm Oerlikon KDA guns and two radars determining the target at a distance of up to 15 km are installed on the turret, which is capable of making a full turn.
