The Kramatorsk Heavy Duty Machine Tool Building Plant presented an updated Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled gun at the IDEX-2023 international exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

The model’s stand states that the 155 mm self-propelled artillery system is adapted for rapid deployment on all types of terrain. It has a computerized automatic target guidance and tracking system and weighs 28 tons.

The manufacturer claims that the self-propelled gun will be able to fire at a speed of up to five shots per minute, with the ammunition being 20 shells. The crew of this ACS consists of 5 people.

The customer will be offered a choice of various self-propelled gun modifications – on the chassis of Tatra, Kraz, or MAN trucks.

Exhibition samples were presented in the form of self-propelled guns on the chassis of the Ukrainian KrAZ 6×6 truck, as well as an alternative version based on the Czech Tatra T815 8×8 with an armored cabin from the Ukrainian Armor company.

The latter option has significant differences from the previous version due to the introduction of the artillery round loading mechanism.

Militarnyi reported that the first deliveries of serial Ukrainian Bohdana self-propelled guns are expected in the coming months.

“We have a very important Ukrainian “Bohdana.” I have already signed the first contracts, and they [manufacturers] are already promising to make the first deliveries in the coming months,” Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense, said about the order of new Ukrainian artillery systems.

The Minister also published his photo inside the new “Bohdana,” which differs from the models indicated at the exhibition in its cab design. The self-propelled gun in the photo is mounted on the 6×6 chassis.

In his interview with Babel on February 20, Reznikov did not name the specific number of artillery systems ordered, citing the sensitivity of the information, but hinted at the volume of the order.

“I can’t say, it’s not public. Let’s put it this way, the first divisions,” the Minister replied.
