The FPV drone operator of the SIGNUM unit of the 93rd ‘Kholodnyi Yar’ Separate Mechanized Brigade shot down a Russian Lancet kamikaze drone.

The unit’s press service reported on this.

While patrolling the airspace, a Zala reconnaissance drone was detected, which, in addition to conducting reconnaissance, can provide targeting for the Lancet drone.

After that, the Lancet drone itself was detected, and an FPV drone with an air detonation system was sent to intercept it.

An enemy kamikaze drone was damaged during a rapid descent and a likely targeting. The drone crashed in a field and detonated without causing any harm.

The unit emphasized that the Lancet drone was shot down by a drone purchased by the state.

“Returning to the topic of the overestimated potential of FPV drones, I will tell you this: the potential of FPV drones cannot be overestimated,” SIGNUM noted.

Intercepting enemy drones using FPV drones

Recently, there have been more cases of enemy drones being intercepted by FPV drones. Militarnyi previously reported that an FPV drone operator of the 1st Battalion of the 35th Marine Brigade shot down a Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone in the Kherson region.

The Russian Orlan drone was destroyed by a precise hit to the tail beam.

As previously reported, the Odesa Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine destroyed an enemy ZALA reconnaissance drone using an FPV drone.

After detecting the enemy drone, SBGS officers launched an FPV drone into the sky, which rose to an altitude and hit it.

Militarnyi previously reported that in late May, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down a Russian ZALA 421-16E reconnaissance drone using an FPV drone.

Intercepting drones with the help of other drones is a relatively new and promising area of air defense development.

Unlike classic anti-aircraft missiles, interceptor drones have less purchase and operational cost, can perform tasks patrolling a given square, and can be reusable in the future.
