The coalition will set up an F-16 training center for Ukrainian pilots.
The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands stated that the training center will be established in one of the eastern NATO member states.
The Netherlands is currently developing a plan to train Ukrainians on the F-16 together with Denmark and with the support of the United States.
The Netherlands is responsible for coordinating European efforts in this project.
Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, and industry are also being consulted, with all stakeholders currently working on the content of the training program.
The plan consists of three points:
Reuters reported that at the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in the Ramstein format, Denmark will propose to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets already in August.
Troels Lund Poulsen, Danish acting Defence Minister, will propose to start training in Denmark at a meeting in Brussels on June 15.
It is noted that Denmark, which hosts the flight simulators, has already decided on the terms of training Ukrainian pilots.
Also, the training of technical personnel on Western fighter jets should be discussed during the meeting in the Ramstein format.
Previously, Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force, reported that in the first wave, Ukraine will send its best pilots who have passed a strict selection for training.
In December of last year, Elbit Systems signed a contract for $36 million to supply four fully functional F-16 flight simulators for Poland.
