All the SCALP EG air-launched cruise missiles that France promised to provide in the first batch are already in Ukraine.

Vadym Omelchenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to France, reported this in an interview with LB.ua.

He also announced new deliveries of these French missiles, which are being transferred as part of military aid.

“This batch was a test, and the missiles have proven themselves well. We will have SCALP missiles, the supplies will continue. The main issue with these deliveries is their pace, and the French are doing very well in this regard.

In general, if you hear a statement from President Zelensky or President Macron that France has decided to provide us with some weapons at the request of the Ukrainian side, you should know that they are already in Ukraine and operating at the front,” Omelchenko said.

Bombers of the Air Force of Ukraine are already using these cruise missiles to hit important military targets of the Russian invaders on the temporarily occupied territories.

For this purpose, the Ukrainian Su-24M/MR bomber has been adapted to use such long-range weapons.

During the celebration of Air Force Day on August 6, the Ukrainian military demonstrated a Su-24M/MR frontline bomber armed with SCALP EG and Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

SCALP EG in Ukraine

Militarnyi reported that on July 11, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the supply of SCALP EG cruise missiles to Ukraine. French military-linked source shared with reporters that the missiles would be transferred from French military stockpiles, adding that it would be a “significant number.” The media reported that it was about 50 missiles.
The United Kingdom provided similar air-launched cruise missiles to Ukraine.

Storm Shadow/SCALP EG

The Franco-British Storm Shadow/SCALP EG is a long-range air-to-ground air-launched cruise search missile. It is designed to overcome air defense systems and destroy important stationary targets, including bunkers. The 5.1-meter-long search missile has a flight weight of up to 1,300 kg, while the weight of its warhead is 450 kg.

The French version of the missile called SCALP EG and the British Storm Shadow are basically identical. The difference is only in software and type of aircraft designed to carry this missile. The stated operational range of the cruise missile is over 250 km in the export version and up to 560 km for the army of France and Britain.
