The Albanian government is going to restore its own military industry due to the high demand of the global market for weapons.
The ATA state news agency reported on this.
Albanian Defense Minister Niko Peleshi made a statement to the media after the morning government meeting.
He noted that the demand for arms and ammunition in the world is growing, and Albania has not shown any progress in rebuilding its military industry all along.
He also added that there are many industrial facilities in the country that are either mothballed or not used for their intended purpose.
At the same time, Peleshi said that the government would not be able to allocate large financial packages to restore production.
Instead, local and foreign companies might make investments that are aimed at restoring production.
“We are open and waiting for proposals and stakeholders, which are not lacking in the world and among local businesses,” said Niko Peleshi.
He emphasized that some foreign investors have already seen the great production potential in this country, which is planned to be developed.
Militarnyi previously reported that the enterprise for the production of ammunition and artillery systems, which had not worked for 15 years, would resume work in Romania.
The defense company will resume operations at the expense of foreign investment.
The factory in Reșița, Romania, will be reopened by the end of this year.
