In Vovchansk, Ukrainian aviation destroyed a drone control center and a Russian communications hub with an air strike.

A video of the attack was posted on the Sonyashnyk Telegram channel, which is affiliated with Ukrainian aviation.

The strike used a GBU-62 bomb with a JDAM-ER kit, which Ukraine also integrated into Soviet MiG-29 fighters.

The GBU-62 is a 500-pound munition based on the conventional Mk-82 bomb, to which a JDAM kit with GPS/INS and an ER airframe module were added to increase the range.

The addition of the ER module means that after separation from the aircraft, the wings unfold, and the bomb does not fall along a steep trajectory, but glides, covering tens of kilometers. This scheme allows for a strike from a safe distance when the target’s defense is dense or when the carrier aircraft cannot get too close.

The strike was adjusted with the help of a reconnaissance drone that operated freely over Vovchansk.

As of December 2-3, Ukrainian troops were present in Vovchansk and continue to hold the line on the southern outskirts, despite Russian claims of allegedly capturing the city.

This was stated by Ruslan Mykula, co-founder of DeepState, in a commentary to Gwara Media. According to him, the current situation in Vovchansk generally corresponds to the estimates previously voiced by the 16th Army Corps and the General Staff.

“Russians are making progress in Vovchansk, as well as on its western outskirts, in the forests. In addition, they are trying to bypass the city from the west and southwest,” emphasized Mykula.

Previously, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the information spread by the Russian side about the alleged “capture” of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region is not true. The city remains a zone of active hostilities, and Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions.

Yesterday, on December 2, it was reported that soldiers of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Kosty Hordiienko eliminated Russian soldiers who tried to install the Russian flag in the destroyed city of Vovchansk. The unit reminds us that this is the 572nd day of defense of the city, where constant assaults by small infantry groups continue. Russian troops are intensively using artillery, aviation and drones, including fiber-optic UAVs.
