The air forces of Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway will operate together as a joint force.
The military commanders of each of these countries have signed a joint agreement, Norwegian Aftenposten reports.
It happened last week in the presence of the NATO Air Command at the Ramstein Air Base.
The aim of the agreements of the four northern European countries is to enable their air forces to act together.
The agreement provides for joint training, joint technical assistance, logistics and planning, as well as execution of operations. They will also jointly monitor the airspace.
The publication concludes that the allied forces of the four countries will have about 250 modern combat aircraft.
Over the past year, the air forces of the northern countries of Europe have further deepened the established cooperation.
The strengthening of interstate cooperation in the defense sector was influenced by changes in the security situation in the region.
As previously reported, according to Finnish media, Ukraine submitted a request to Finland to discuss the possibility of transferring F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets. These combat aircraft are a matter of trilateral negotiations between Finland, Ukraine and the USA.
A possible transfer of these aircraft in the future requires approval from the US since the F/A-18 Hornet is manufactured by an American defense company.
Previously, the B-52 strategic bomber jet of the US Air Force flew over the Baltic countries and the Gulf of Finland.
The warplane approached the Russian island of Suursaari, located 40 km away from the coast of Finland. The bomber was accompanied by Polish Air Force’s fighter jets.
