The Air Defense of Ukraine hit several Russian reconnaissance drones.
Ukrainian fighters neutralized the Russian classified drone, which received the unofficial name “Cartograph.”
The Russian “Orlan-10” reconnaissance drone from which the number was removed was also downed.
On August 21, at 9:12 during an air raid alert, the military of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Command “Center” in the East shot down an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle.
The military also demonstrated the wreckage of this drone, informally called the “Cartograph.”
This unique drone is often confused with another Russian “Orlan-10” drone.
Externally, the UAV is really similar to the Orlan family of aircraft, but there are a number of differences.
The released photos showcased a camera with 12 lenses and the blue color of the aircraft hull.
Some components of UAVs, in particular the optical-electronic system, are made by a Russian company, which is under US sanctions and works together with the manufacturer of Orlan UAVs.
The drone is used not by the Russian Ministry of Defense, but probably by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB – ed.).
Due to the joint work of the electronic warfare units of the Air Assault Forces and units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian military managed to land three Russian Orlan-10 UAVs during one week.
The presence of a more advanced anti-interference navigation channel (Comet-M) system in this aircraft system failed to protect it from landing.
