A Yak-130 combat training aircraft crashed in the Volgograd region of Russia.

Russian propagandist Ilya Tumanov, who runs the Fighterbomber aviation Telegram channel, reported this on Thursday, October 10.

He claims that the aircraft crashed during a training flight.

The propagandist does not disclose when exactly this happened.

According to him, the crew allegedly successfully left the aircraft and is now in the hospital.

According to preliminary data, the crash of the Russian Yak-130 combat training aircraft was caused by the failure of aviation equipment. A special commission is currently investigating the incident.

In June, Militarnyi reported that the Irkutsk Aviation Plant had transferred a new batch of Yak-130 aircraft to the Russian military.

These aircraft are part of the Russian Aerospace Forces’ training aviation regiments and are used for pilots’ practical training.

The Yak-130 twin-engined training aircraft can, in particular, be used to train pilots in conditions close to a combat situation, with conditional or real use of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons.

Also, due to the possibility of using missiles and bombs, the aircraft is actively used to improve the skills of Russian pilots in dropping aircraft bombs and firing unguided aircraft missiles.

The Yak-130 aircraft in Russia replaced a fleet of Czechoslovakian-made L-39 training aircraft. The Russian military received the first batch of 12 aircraft in 2010-2011.

To date, the Russian Aerospace Forces have over a hundred Yak-130 combat training aircraft.
