A Russian Su-34 bomber crashed in the Voronezh region during a training flight.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported this.

The plane with the tail number “05 red” fell in a field in the Kashirsky district of the Voronezh region near the village of Kolodezny. The crew of two pilots managed to eject and survived.

According to the media associated with Russian military aviation, the incident occurred during a training flight. Accordingly, there was no ammunition on board.

Preliminary versions of the bomber crash consider the malfunction of the aircraft’s front landing gear.

Risky training

This is not the first time that a Russian aircraft falls during a training flight. A few days ago, on September 12, another Russian Su-24М bomber crashed in the Volgograd region.

The aircraft of the 11th Aviation Regiment fell during a routine training flight. The flight took place without ammunition.

However, the most high-profile example is last year’s Su-34 incident in the Russian city of Yeisk in Kuban.

At that time, the bomber flew into the apartment building at full speed. As it was later reported, the engine failed in flight. Then, the Russian pilots also successfully ejected.

In addition, Russian Su-34 bombers have been repeatedly seen in emergency situations with an emergency launch of bombs suspended on them.

Thus, in April 2023, several FAB-500М62 500-kilogram bombs were dropped from a plane in Russian Belgorod and hit the city’s residential area.
