The on-board gunner of the Mi-8 helicopter of the army aviation shot down the Russian Shahed-136 attack drone.

Anatoliy Shtefan posted a video of the incident on his X page.

The Mi-8 helicopter captured in the video intercepting the Russian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone is equipped with several machine gun turrets on board.

When the helicopter and the kamikaze drone were at a relative speed level, the gunner with the 7.62mm FN MAG machine gun started to fire at the drone.

Thanks to the precise shooting, the Shahed drone began to descend sharply due to the damaged fuselage and rudders.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that low-speed aircraft have been used to counter Russian drones in the skies over Ukraine.

Previously, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter shot down a Russian Shahed attack drone with machine gun fire located in the nose.

The Russian attack UAV of the Shahed type was detected while flying at low altitude above the water surface.

A direct hit resulted in the explosion of the Russian Shahed, which thus failed to reach its intended target.

In April 2024, a Yak-52 piston trainer aircraft shot down a Russian reconnaissance drone in the Odesa region.

It can be assumed that the shooting was executed by the second crew member with a gun or automatic weapon.

A civilian crew managed to shoot down a Russian reconnaissance UAV with handguns, which began to fall.
