On the night of Saturday, 13 July, one of Russia’s Shahed attack drones flew from Ukraine to Belarus.
It flew over 350 km over four regions of the neighbouring country, which is an ally of Russia.
The Belarusian monitoring group Belaruski Gayun reported on this.
This is the second such incident in the last two days.
On Saturday morning, Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, said that on the night of 13 July, Russia had attacked Ukraine with 5 Shahed-131/136 drones. Four of them were shot down by mobile AA fire teams in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. The fifth drone left Ukrainian airspace in the direction of the Gomel region of Belarus.
According to the monitoring group Belaruski Gayun, at around 3:00 a.m., a Russian Shahed drone crossed the Belarusian-Ukrainian border near the village of Loyew in the Gomel region and continued its movement north.
Next, the Shahed drone flew over Gomel and Zhlobin and entered the Mogilev region and then the Minsk region, getting as close as possible to the Belarusian capital.
The monitoring group Belaruski Gayun reported that at 5 a.m., a Mi-24 attack helicopter and a Su-30 fighter aircraft were alerted to intercept.
According to the project, Belarusian aircraft were spotted in the area of the drone’s flight – the border of Minsk, Mogilev, and Vitebsk regions.
Later, the Shahed UAV entered the Vitebsk region of Belarus and presumably flew to Vitebsk.
It is not yet known what ultimately happened to this Russian attack drone.
According to Belaruski Gayun, on the evening of 11 July, another Shahed drone, which Russia used to attack Ukraine at the time, flew into Belarus from the Chernihiv region and stayed in the country’s airspace for at least 1 hour. At the same time, a Belarusian Mi-24 helicopter and a fighter jet were also taken into the sky.
