Fragments of a Russian cruise missile were discovered in the vicinity of Volgograd.

Military columnist Status-6 reported this on X (ex-Twitter).

Given the poor quality of the photo, we can only speculate which missile fell near the Russian city.

During the recent massive shelling of Ukrainian infrastructure, the Russians used Kh-101, Kh-555, and Kh-55, so it can assumed that it was one of the missiles of this type that fell down.

It is reported that the missile release line of Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers is in the Caspian Sea region, and therefore, Volgograd is in the path of missiles.

Launches from the Caspian-Volgograd region took place recently on January 8, and specialized Telegram channels reported the use of missiles from this region.

Cruise missiles and bombs falling on Russian territory

This is the third such incident in Russia since the beginning of the month. On January 2, Militarnyi reported that one of the Russian missiles fired at Ukraine fell in a village in the Voronezh region.

It is assumed that a Russian Kh-101 or Kh-555 cruise missile, which was launched on the territory of Ukraine in the morning of the same day, fell in the village of Petropavlovka.

According to local residents, the missile fell at 8:38 am local time and exploded, which formed a giant funnel. The region governor called this case “an emergency munition release.”

According to him, there were allegedly no casualties, but the destruction was recorded in seven households.

Later, on January 4, an unexploded OFAB-250 bomb with the UMPK (unified gliding and correction module – ed.) kit bomb was reported in the Belgorod region.

On the control module, the production marking “Operable 18.12.23” applied manually with a marker can be spotted, which may indicate the date of its production or quality control.

However, according to the abnormal bomb release from the hardpoint, the bomb kit might have had a malfunction that led to the accident.
