A mine clearance vehicle based on a crawler excavator was developed in Ukraine.
The system was developed in Kryvyi Rih, and the vehicle is currently being tested.
Such a vehicle will help Ukrainian rescuers carry out humanitarian demining in the fields.
The vehicle is equipped with special attachment devices used for demining.
The system includes the main body of the crawler excavator, a rotating chain demining device with a protective shield at the front of the vehicle, and an armored driver-operator cabin.
“Hammers on chains have an impact force between 1,500 and 1,700 kg. 150 kg is enough to detonate an anti-tank mine. That is, if the mine is buried deep enough, and the force of the impact will be enough for it to explode. Additionally, these hammers are located far from the shield, almost 2 meters away. This ensures safer operation of the operator and the vehicle itself,” the developer of the mine clearance vehicle noted.
Developers from Kryvyi Rih designed and manufactured this mine clearance vehicle within four months. The excavator is also equipped with surveillance cameras, which facilitate the work of the operator, who can see the surrounding environment.
The mine clearance vehicle develops a speed of up to two kilometers per hour.
The system was developed with the support of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council. Such a vehicle will help rescuers carry out humanitarian demining in fields and prepare them for future sowing campaigns, as well as protect people who may be blown up by enemy ammunition.
After the tests, the vehicle must undergo appropriate certification. This will allow developers to start serial production.
Previously, a device for detecting mines in the fields, which is mounted on farm machinery, was developed in the Vinnytsia region.
The technology involves the use of unmanned devices that search for explosive objects and their marking in the fields.
