A drone fell near Taganrog in the Rostov region of Russia.
The incident took place late in the evening on Sunday, July 30, at the khutor Daraganovka.
A fire broke out at the site of the fall of a large UAV.
Vasily Golubev, the Russian governor of the Rostov region, confirmed the drone crash.
According to him, nobody suffered injuries, and the roof of a private household and a car were damaged.
However, according to Russian social media reports, a private house and two cars were damaged as a result of the fall of an unmanned aerial vehicle, and two people were also injured.
Locals claim in one of the Russian Telegram channels that after a loud explosion, electricity disappeared, and a fire started.
Videos posted on social media show that a fire broke out at the scene of the incident, which is being extinguished by local residents. It is noticeable that this UAV was of significant size, as its large wing fell into the camera lens. The ownership of the drone is still unknown. However, it was probably a Russian military aircraft.
The khutor Daraganovka farm is located near the Russian military airbase in the city of Taganrog, so it can be assumed that there was a fall of the UAV of the Russian Federation, probably due to a technical malfunction.
In July, it was spotted on a satellite picture from Planet Labs that the Russians deployed three Orion (Inokhodets) drones at the airbase.
Judging by the large size of the aircraft that fell near Taganrog and the fact that the Russian Orion UAVs are located at the local airbase, it can be assumed that this was an aircraft crashing in Daraganovka.
Some Russian propaganda public pages also suggest that another Russian Forpost-RU reconnaissance and combat UAV may have suffered an accident.
The maximum takeoff weight of the Russian Orion unmanned aerial vehicle is about 1 ton, with the maximum flight duration being 30 hours, and the flight altitude being about 8 thousand meters. It is stated that the UAV can carry a combat payload of up to 200 kilograms. The drone can be armed with various types of aircraft ammunition. The declared armament includes Kh-50 guided compact aircraft missiles, and KAB-20 guided bombs.
A Russian drone can also be equipped with new guided missiles called Kh-UAV – a modification of the guided missile of the Kornet anti-tank missile system, created for air delivery.
