A fundraising campaign to purchase a tank for the Ukrainian military was launched in the Czech Republic.
The campaign was organized by “A Gift for Putin” project representatives.
This Czech organization has been collecting funds for armaments for Ukraine since May of this year. In 4 months of work, the volunteers managed to collect over €7 million.
The Czechs are launching a new campaign and will procure an upgraded T-72 Avenger tank for the needs of Ukraine from their own Armed Forces, Defense24.pl writes.
The organizers strive to collect over €1.22 million – this includes the cost of the T-72 and its delivery to the territory of Ukraine. The campaign is run under the slogan “A gift from the Czech Republic!”.
Prior to launching the campaign, the organizers of the fundraiser consulted with the Ukrainian servicemen. With regard to the purchase of the tank and its transportation, consultations with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic were conducted.
T-72 Avenger is an upgraded Soviet T-72 tank, but with improved protection for the crew and with modern aiming devices.
“A Gift for Putin” project was launched by the Czech businessman Dalibor Dědek.
All collected funds are transferred to the account of the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague. They are later spent to purchase Czech-made military products. The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic is involved throughout the entire process.
Thanks to this project, this summer, the Ukrainian servicemen received two Bivoj reconnaissance drones.
According to the media, the Czech Republic has already transferred some heavy equipment to Ukraine. These are DANA self-propelled howitzers, RM-70 multiple rocket launcher systems, T-72 tanks, and BMPs.
The Czech Republic has been helping Ukraine and supplying weapons to our military even before the full-scale aggression of Russia.
