Now Chernihiv and the settlements that used to be in isolation will be receiving humanitarian aid.
Militarnyi informs about it.
The new corridor between the cities was restored by the servicemen of the Operational Command “North” and the military administration.
“Along with implementing the measures aimed at demining the area and cleaning it from the dangerous objects, we also put our efforts into restoring the connection. Together with the local authorities, we are currently restoring the Chernihiv-Honcharivske section. Then, subsequently, Kyiv. This would allow both the evacuation of the wounded and the relocation of the local population, as well as movement of volunteers who are providing humanitarian assistance,” said Victor Nikolyuk, Commander of the Operational Command “North”.
Servicemen and local authorities are working to create additional corridors to unload the existing ones.
“This is a very important corridor, especially for the city of Chernihiv and the surrounding settlements, which have long been cut off from the opportunity to receive humanitarian aid. This was a priority, in fact, we all know that we used the pedestrian bridge for some time, and it was constantly exposed to enemy fire. Entire batteries of the Grad multiple rocket launchers have been aiming towards it,” said Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration.
The day before, 5 trucks with humanitarian aid arrived in the city. They brought powerful generators, medicines, expense materials, and equipment. Assistance was provided by the Ministry of Health and UNICEF. The entire batch was directed at the needs of hospitals in Chernihiv and the region.
Previously, on April 4th, the Zhytomyr region was liberated from the occupiers.
