More than a hundred Russian soldiers laid down their arms and surrendered to Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.
The “I Want to Live” project reported on this.
On August 14, a large group of Russian soldiers who had been abandoned by their commanders decided to surrender.
“More than a hundred Russians abandoned by their commanders made the right decision and surrendered. They can be understood, it is difficult to fight when you are commanded by autocrats and bezzlers, and your flanks are “covered” by Kadyrov’s bandits who abandon everyone and everything to avoid being captured themselves,” the statement reads.
The released drone video shows about 60 captured soldiers tied up or lying down.
Later, Insider UA reported that SSU special forces captured 102 Russian POWs.
In the course of the operation, the Special Group “Alpha” of the SSU captured and cleared an extensive, concrete, and well-fortified stronghold of the 488th Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces. Previously, information about the capture of the Russian command post of the 488th regiment by soldiers of the 225th Separate Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also posted online.
It is noted that the facility had underground utilities and accommodation for military personnel, dining rooms, a weapons room, and supplies and provisions necessary for defense.
Militarnyi previously reported that at least 265 Russian soldiers were captured during the Armed Forces’ operation in the Kursk region, according to public data alone.
The rapid advance deep into the territory of the aggressor country led to the disorganization of the Russian military units that were directly on the border or in the near rear.
Only at the Sudzha checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Russia in the Kursk region, on the first day of the Ukrainian army’s offensive, several Russian soldiers surrendered.
In addition to prisoners of war, the Ukrainian military also captured Russian equipment. In particular, soldiers of the SSU Military Counterintelligence Department, together with soldiers of the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, captured a fully operational T-80BVM tank.
