FPV drones of the Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade destroyed a Russian 2S23 Nona-SVK 120mm self-propelled artillery and mortar system.
The video was posted on the Battalion’s X-page.
It is reported that the enemy’s Nona-SVK was discovered and destroyed in the Kharkiv region by the Vitrolom crew.
According to Oryx OSINT analysts, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, at least two Russian 2S23s have been destroyed and three captured.
It is known that as of 2024, the Russian Armed Forces had a total of 36 2S23s in their disposal, 24 of which were in the Ground Forces and 12 in the Navy.
Other operators are Venezuela, which has about 13 combat vehicles, and Ukraine, which has eight captured vehicles and one of its own Nona-SVK.
2S23 Nona-SVK is a 120mm battalion self-propelled artillery and mortar based on the BTR-80 chassis.
The main armament of the 2S23 is the 2A60 120mm rifled gun-howitzer-mortar, which is a modified version of the 2A51, mounted in the 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled artillery system.
Additionally, the Nona-SVK is equipped with a PKT 7.62mm machine gun mounted on the turret of the self-propelled artillery system commander.
The self-propelled artillery system is designed to suppress manpower, artillery and mortar batteries, rocket launchers, armored targets, and command centers.
It is capable of conducting targeted fire without prior preparation from closed positions and direct fire.
The ammunition of the 2A60 gun is fully unified with the ammunition of the 2B16 Nona-K gun and the 2S9 Nona-S tracked self-propelled gun.
